The Students' National Education Council (SNEC) is a group of passionate students who seek to raise awareness on contemporary issues — be it local or global — and inculcate students with a sense of belonging to Singapore. SNEC brings Hwa Chongians together to commemorate four core National Education (NE) events, namely Total Defence Day, Racial Harmony Day, International Friendship Month and National Day. These events aim to foster a sense of national identity, and strengthen ties within the student body and with the wider community.
We hope to spark curiosity and foster empathy by engaging the student population in meaningful dialogues such as our in-house initiative 'Our Hwa Chong Conversations' and Ministerial Dialogues. We also organise the biannual National Education Symposium, where students can interact and engage in insightful conversations with peers from a diverse range of backgrounds. Additionally, we design and install infographics around school biweekly — a signature initiative aimed at encouraging Hwa Chongians to reflect on present-day societal issues.
More than just any CCA, SNEC is a tight-knit community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about what they do, and who work alongside one another to plan and execute meaningful NE experiences. Join the SNEC family if you have a heart for Singapore and want to step out of your comfort zone to grow as a leader!
